Leafs lose in a Shootout.

The Toronto Maple Leafs dropped the latest installment of the battle of Ontario last night 1-0 in a shootout. Jason Spezza was the only one to beat a goalie last night scoring in the second round of the shootout. The Leafs goalie James Reimer stopped all the shots he faced in regulation and overtime and went 1 for 2 in the shootout. Reimer who will be counted on to take the majority of the starts as the season continues due to injuries in the goaltending rotation. The back-up last night Ben Scrivens finally got to wear the Leafs jersey despite sitting on the bench. Ottawa's newly acquired goalie Craig Anderson picked up the victory in his first start as a Senator.
The Leafs are off for the next two days in preparation for their Tuesday evening tilt with the New York Islanders. The Islanders are one of the NHL's hottest teams right now having won their past 5 games. The Leafs can't take the Islanders lightly if they want to win. Currently sitting 7 points out of 8th in the East the Leafs are going to want to step it up before the trade-deadline or else they will be sellers as they continue their rebuild.
Leafs newly acquired sniper Joffrey Lupul will look to finally score in a Leafs jersey. Hopefully he can get it on the road against the New York Islanders. The Leafs schedule is tougher this week then weeks past. The Buds will play the Islanders, Canadiens, and Penguins before they have a rare Sunday night game. The Leafs will want to win at least 2 of their next 3 games if they want to continue towards their playoff hopes.
